The Cooperative Student Fellowship exists in order to provide students a Christian community that is Baptist in nature; fosters authentic relationships; encourages open-minded conversation, learning, and discipleship; and creates experiences that nurture the development of students as current and future church leaders.
CBF/GA sponsors Cooperative Student Fellowships at the University of Georgia Athens campus, the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus, and the Mercer University Macon campus.
CSF Athens meets on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. in the Tree Room at Two Story Coffeehouse. Students will be reading The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning and discussing the concept of grace.

CBF/GA CSF Students Take the Plunge2Poverty
For twenty-four hours, from the evening of Friday, April 8, to the evening of April 9, five CBF/GA CSF students got a small taste of what it means to be poor in America. Once the students arrived at Highland Hills Baptist Church, Macon, they were told that three of them would be “poor, single parents” for the next 24 hours, and two of them would be “homeless.” The “poor” students were given an envelope containing thirty dollars, the amount a single parent with three children would receive for one day from TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) , and they were told they could only keep three of the personal items they brought with them. Most students chose to keep their sleeping bag and a few personal hygiene items. The “homeless” students were not given any money and were only allowed to keep their sleeping bag.
Next, the students traveled to a mock thrift store, where they “purchased” a pair of pants and a shirt with a clothing voucher they received from a caseworker. The students would wear these thrift store clothes for the rest of the event. That evening they watched a documentary about the working poor in America, before spending the night under the stars with only their sleeping bags to protect them.
The next day the students had the opportunity to speak with an AmeriCorps VISTA, who is working directly with the National Coalition for the Homeless in Macon. They also got to meet and hear the story of a woman who is now living at The Rainbow House, a shelter in Macon for homeless individuals with HIV/AIDS, after spending nearly three years on the streets. After that, the students got a brief glimpse at life on the streets. They divided into small groups with a chaperone, and spent the next four hours searching for usable items in dumpsters, asking where they could find food or emergency shelter, and meeting some very special people who live life on the streets of Macon every day.
The twenty-four hours were eye opening, challenging, and forming for the students. They were able to learn from the people they met about what we can do to address the needs of the poor and homeless in Macon. They were able to pray with these people. They were able to put faces, names, and stories to the statistics they already knew. Poverty is no longer an issue for these students, poverty is people.
