Disaster Response
When major disasters strike around the world, we as Cooperative Baptists respond with our time, energy, and resources, and we respond through partner organizations. When gift-in-kind donations are helpful in disaster response, the Fellowship serves as a clearinghousing, matching a donor with a need in the disaster area. Frequently, the Fellowship establishes a designated fund, where individuals and churches can financially contribute to relief for a specific disaster. When volunteers are needed, the Fellowship invites individuals and groups to apply for various service opportunities in the disaster area. CBF/GA is collecting names of people who are interested in disaster response for a mailing list. Click on the link to the left to sign up online. CBF/GA is also looking for information and photos on where our churches are working and what they are doing to help with the storm-affected areas. Please contact Kelley Dixson at kdixson@cbfga.org or 478-742-1191, ext. 26, to be added to the mailing list or share your stories. There is also a FaceBook group called CBF/GA Disaster Response Network. Click here to ask to join the group.
Help with Storm Cleanup in the Southeastern United States
As a result of the April 2011 tornadoes in Meriwether County, two homes have been selected for complete rebuilds by the Meriwether Recovery Team. Local monetary gifts as well as FEMA funds are making these rebuilds possible. One home has already been framed and is in the roofing stage as of Monday, January 9. The other home has the foundation built and is need of framing, etc. The homes are located on GA Hwy 85 just north of Manchester. The MRT's hopes are to host teams and volunteers as available until these two homes are move-in ready for the homeowners. If you have volunteers/teams that can assist with any level of the building of these houses, please contact Craig Williamson at First Baptist Church of Manchester for further information. His office phone is 706-846-2601 and cell phone is 706-975-7507.
You can give directly online through the CBF/GA website by clicking here or by sending a check to the CBF/GA office. Please remember to mark that the donation is for "disaster response." For more information on CBF Disaster Response, click here.
